July 21st through the 25th, 2008 marked the British invasion of Pleasant Hill as over eighty Pleasant Hill youth assembled at the Sports Complex to take on Challenger Sports, British Soccer Camp.
The Children were trained by British Soccer experts on the finer points of soccer fundamentals including "individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices,
small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. The Challenger coaching staff provided the kids with
lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others
and for the game."*
The camp was an overwhelming success and many kids didn't want to see the week end. One parent commented, "It's obvious that as PHSYA continues to grow the level of skill and play continues to improve. Programs like the British Soccer Camp are evidence that soccer is here to stay in Pleasant Hill."
